Be a dog in the 1st 2 quarters of 2011!

I’ve seen many predictions about the first half of 2011 . . . and to some degree, I believe that many of them will be accurate as self-fulfilling prophesies . . . but then, that’s what the “experts” are paid to do . . . Look at the trends through their crystal balls and report what they see in the future.

Of course, we all know that not even the experts KNOW . . . All we really know is NOW . . . and where the rubber actually hits the road is our own personal behavior – choices as we respond to the environment.

Do we fight or fly?

Do we lay low and hide and abandon ship until the weather improves?

or

Do we develop a good offensive strategy?

My choice is clear. I know that when things get tough, the tough get GOING . . . I know that if the market does take a 2nd dip, THAT’s the best time to help MORE people and gain market share.

Other things I think I know. Mortgage Interest Rates are on the rise now. I do not think they’re going to go back to where they were 2 weeks ago (probably EVER). This is not doom and gloom because rates are still great.

I know that units sold this year are significantly off pace from last year’s sales . . . but 2009 and 2010 are apples and oranges . . . 2009 included a double-dip Home Buyer Tax Credit that was implemented, then renewed and very efficiently pilfered many of 2010’s home Buyers out of the market.

I know that a whole new wave of Short Sales and foreclosures is coming soon. As much as 50% of the homes sold in 2011 are projected to be short sales. This might be good news for savvy buyers, and is definitely good news for REALTORS who position themselves well to handle short sales (by building a team or aligning themselves with a Short Sale Specialist).

More short sales in the market is an opportunity for REALTORS to help more people in financial disarray through without foreclosure.

What to do about all of this?

How ’bout just being a dog in 2011?

GREAT ADVICE!

If a dog was the teacher you would learn stuff like:

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.

Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.

When it’s in your best interest, practice obedience!

Let others know when they’ve invaded your territory.

Take naps.

Stretch before rising.

Run, romp, and play daily.

Thrive on attention and let people touch you.

Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

On warm days, stop to lie on your back in the grass.

On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.

When you’re happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

No matter how often you’re scolded, don’t buy into the guilt thing and pout . run right back and make friends.

Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

Eat with gusto and enthusiasm. Stop when you have had enough.

Be loyal. Never pretend to be something you’re not.

If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.

Be THANKFUL for all of the folks who are loyal to you . . . and love on them like never before.

In a single word – DATABASE

Now is the time to focus on the REAL relationships you have. Strengthen those relationships, and you’ll strengthen your community . . . and all boats will rise with the tide.
